First day of my holiday and it's been a scorcher, so we decided to head off to Fairburn Ings, What a great day we've had and Oliver walked around Fairbun for the first time today, Louise spent about an hour waiting to photograph the Kingfishers but the camera had the small lens on so she did what she could with the small lens, In the meantime me and Oliver went for a walk along the nature trail, I was showing him spiders and other little beasties, he was quite interested. We saw a dead ladybird and Oliver was tutting at it and pointing we think he knew it wasn't well. He had a great time exploring the grounds. Louise had a great time brushing up on her camera skills and I had a great time showing Oliver all the wonderful things nature has to offer.
Went back to Fairburn Ings today, I spent most of my time taking photos of Damselfly out of the 335 pictures I took here are the best three, I would say I have around about ten good shots not including the ones of Louise and Oliver.
As promised although a little later than I said are some more photos of the day out at Fairburn Ings that me and Oliver had.
Me and Oliver had a father and son day out today and we went to Fairburn Ings Nature reserve, He loved it looking through the viewing hole in the hides pointing and waving at all the birds bless him. We went up the riverside trail, he fell asleep and I noticed a tree that had what looked like spider webs at first till I got a close look and saw they were Caterpillar nests, The tree was full of them, below are a few of the shots I got of the nests. I've got more photos from my day at Fairburn Ings but they will have to wait till tomorrow now before I put them up.
Went back to Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve on Saturday, I had hoped to get some pictures of some Kingfishers but we didn't see any, There were other photographers there and they didn't get any either. We did see some Coots building a nest, that was nice to see, I took loads of pictures of other Coots and there young but they weren't that good, Got some nice photos of Louise and Oliver watching the adult Coots feeding there young. Also got a good shot of a Mallard that Louise told me to take, I wasn't going to take one because I have loads of shots of Mallards. I also got an action shot of a Mallard taking off.
